NSERC-CREATE FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT

Name: Paul Pavlidis

Project title: Training Program in High-Dimensional Bioinformatics (HDB)

Award: $ 1,650,000 (over six years)

Project Synopsis: Technological innovation has given scientists the ability to gather and analyze huge quantities of data. This means that informatics, bioinformatics and computational biology data pools are enormous and complex. Therefore, experts who can organize, visualize, analyze, integrate and interpret large data sets are in high demand in industry and academia. Undergraduates typically lack the skills they need to “find statistical needles in noisy haystacks.” In response, this project will provide collaborative research training and activities for graduates that go beyond their classroom learning.
