*Job Summary:*

A senior position is available immediately to join an exciting and
growing enterprise poised to make accessible next generation cancer
sequencing diagnostics widely available.

The Senior Software Developer will design and implement bioinformatics
workflows and software for novel and proprietary cancer-focused next
generation sequencing assays. This will entail developing robust,
efficient and fault tolerant software within a Linux environment.

The Senior Software Developer will implement and maintain enterprise
level software system comprised of raw data quality control, sequence
alignment and variant calling, annotation and reporting.

The Senior Software Developer will work independently, but will interact
with other programmers, database developers, bioinformaticians, clinical
geneticists and wet-lab personnel.

*Status: *Full-time

*Reporting to: *Chief Informatics Officer

*Qualifications:*

* Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline in computer science
(MSc or higher preferred)
* 5+ years experience developing software in a commercial setting
* 5+ years experience working in a Linux/UNIX operating system
environment
* Expert proficiency with Python
* Proficiency with distributed parallel computing systems
* Proficiency with database management systems
* Familiarity with test driven design
* Expert knowledge of code versioning tools such as git
* Experience leading small development teams

*Desired experience:*

* Experience developing scientific computing/analytics applications
* Experience analyzing next generation sequencing data from human DNA
* Familiarity with variant or somatic mutation calling and subsequent
annotation
* Familiarity with human genetics/genomics
* Familiarity with scientific computing environments (implementation
of algorithms and statistical models)

*Work Performed:*

* Design and implementation of software
* Writing version controlled source code
* Writing technical documents to accompany source code
