Genome BC and BC Clinical Genomics Network are hosting the 3rd Annual
Gene Screen BC Film Competition. This is a contest to honor short
videos that educate, inform and excite secondary students, the public
and healthcare professionals about the role of genetics and genomics in
human health. The category for this year’s film is “Education” and is
targeted towards those interested in creating short films aimed at
educating students in grades 8 to 12 about any topic related to the role
of genetics and genomics in human health. For more information and to
check out last year’s films visit www.genescreenbc.com.

Winners will be announced on September 25th at the Screening Gala which
will be held in downtown Vancouver at the SFU Woodward’s Goldcorp Centre
for the Arts. The prizes are pretty amazing – a total of $8,000 is to be
won!

If you are interested in creating and submitting a film for this
competition, kindly submit an “Intention to Submit” form which can be
found at: www.genescreenbc.com/videos-2/enter (just so we know how many
films we will likely receive!). Final videos are to be submitted by
August 17th. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me
via email or by phone at 604-675-1022. Also, if you are interested in
connecting with a filmmaker, scientist, or an expert in another genre,
visit Gene Screen BC’s “Connections” page at
www.genescreenbc.com/connections.

Please pass this information on to anybody you may know that may be
interested in participating.
