Bioinformatics job‏ with Dr. Tsuyuki

My name is Dr. Deborah Tsuyuki and I am the manager of the newly started University of Manitoba Next Generation Sequencing platform. The University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine has been talking about starting a bioinformatics lab, with a PI at the helm, but at the present time we have a need for someone to analyze the results from our sequencers, once they are up and running. We have three instruments, the Life Technologies SOLiD 5500xl, an Ion Torrent PGM and a Illumina MiSeq. Although we have the associated servers and software with the three instruments, these programs usually do alignments and provide some metrics, but do not go so far as providing biological significance to the results.

I was given the name of Kendric Wang as someone who was graduating from a bioinformatics program and might be interested in employment. He, however, has plans to stay with his present lab and suggested that I contact you in case any of his classmates are interested. We have not gotten as far as posting a position yet, since the salary support is not yet in place, but if anyone in your program is interested, they can forward their resume to me. I am expecting the salary support to be announced within the month. Life Technologies has a bioinformatics course available, which we would be able to support, for specific information relating to NGS. Please forward this email to anyone who might be interested and thank you for your assistance.

Regards,

Deborah Tsuyuki, PhD.
