Interested in a career off the beaten academic track?  Come on out to this workshop to hear from two young professionals who cut loose from academia to embark on exciting careers involving interdisciplinary research, wildlife, environment and policy!

Robin Naidoo is a research scientist with World Wildlife Fund (US) and an Adjunct Professor in the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES) at UBC. His work involves research and technical support relating to the conservation of biodiversity in a variety of geographical and socioeconomic contexts.

Raul Pacheco-Vega is recent graduate of IRES, and is a Vancouver-based researcher, educator and consultant in environmental politics and policy.  He was recently the Regional Director, Western Canada, for the Canadian Institute for Environmental Law and Policy (CIELAP), and is also an instructor in the Department of Political Science at UBC.

This is a great opportunity to learn about career opportunities outside of academia, and to learn from Robin and Rauls experiences in finding and creating opportunities, and the tough decisions that they faced along the way.
