UBC BIOMOD 2015‏

2015 UBC BIOMOD Team Detailed Description

This year we have formed the first ever UBC team for the BIOMOD competition. BIOMOD is a biomolecular design competition held annually by the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering of Harvard University. Each year over twenty undergraduate teams, aided by faculty advisors and numerous grad advisors, enter into the competition. We wish to represent UBC at this competition with a strong entry.

We are looking for Masters, PhDs, and Postdocs to join the team in order to broaden our team’s skills and project expertise. In return, we hope that the competition will provide an opportunity to demonstrate their teaching and advising skills and also gain numerous networking opportunities within the scientific community in UBC as well as scientific community from other academic institutions and industrial partners.

This year we seek to join structures with biological significance (e.g. drug delivery, therapeutics) with DNA nanotechnologies to demonstrate interesting applications for both the BIOMOD competition and the academic community. Aspects of the project include biology, engineering and mathematical modeling. I’ve enclosed a more detailed proposal that I hope may better explain the scope of the project and our ambition.

We hope to know whether you know of any one that would be interested in such a project and if you could please share these details with them.

More information can also be found on the competition website, biomod.net. The primary contact for our group is at ubcbiomod@gmail.com.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you,

UBC BIOMOD Team
