Let’s Talk Science is looking for a new member to join our coordinating team!
Let’s Talk Science is a national volunteer outreach organisation that works to improve science literacy in the community through fun, hands-on/minds-on programs. Last year, 350+ UBC volunteers reached over 15,000 youths in BC, donating over 3000 hours of their time! As the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, you will create a stronger line of engagement between the coordinating team and our exceptional volunteers. By motivating new and current volunteers, spreading the word about Let’s Talk Science around campus and focusing on the volunteer experience, you will help us exceed our outreach goals and make volunteering with Let’s Talk Science even better!
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
– Organising training sessions
– Recruiting graduate student volunteers
– Responding to volunteer inquiries
– Following up with volunteers regarding their involvement in the program
– Keeping volunteer motivated throughout the year
– Managing our Site Advisor program
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
– Must be a UBC graduate student and a Canadian citizen
– Must have a background in science
– Professional oral and written communication skills
– Excellent organizational and time-management skills
– Enthusiastic and able to motivate and inspire others
– Able to work as a team member using strong interpersonal skills.
