Students attend MITACS workshop: Managing Projects‏

Bioinformatics students: Emilia Lim, Young Song, Fong Chan

Feedback from Emilia:

It was fun and interactive, and I was surprised by the willingness of the participants to work together. The task at hand was to construct 2 wind turbines out of lego-like pieces within 12 mins, with 8 mins of prior planning. We were given 3 attempts, with instructions on managing projects in between each attempt. And it was very interesting to see how proper management of your team can actually result in success. Very satisfying. If you guys have a chance, do attend it. The most beneficial part was actually laying out the components of a research project and discussing how you would manage it. Overall, it was a very interactive and fun session, and one where you had lots to learn and take home from.
